Happy Easter, everybunny!

Happy Easter!! Our Easter celebration this year was a pretty quiet one. Because I am now 32 weeks along, I can't travel anywhere so we stayed home just the three of us. We went to 8AM Mass in hopes that Robert would be better behaved than if we go later and in hopes that it would be less crowded than the later Masses. He actually did well the first half but then he got restless and walked to walk around the church and explore. He is such a busy little boy! I wonder if all toddlers are this active or if Robert is exceptionally curious and wiggly at times. When we got home, we changed him out of his nice church clothes and dyed Easter eggs. It was so fun listening to him name all of the colors and counting the eggs. This is such a cute age!!

Robert enjoyed playing with the bunny ears Liz got him last year. Actually, she got them for Molly who would have nothing to do with them and she got Robert a bunny stuffed animal, which Molly wanted to destroy! Haha!!
We spent the afternoon taking a nap followed by playing outside. After dinner, Brian and I showed Robert that the Easter bunny came last night. He was very excited to see his basket full of goodies!

I think he was most excited about the bubbles and toy cars. We ate candy and played outside with the bubbles and toy cars until it was time to head inside for our nighttime routine of bathtime followed by bedtime. I must say- life is good. :)

It's a BOY!!!

We had our big ultrasound, and we were thrilled to find out that we're having a baby BOY!! I am so excited about this for lots of reasons:
1. I feel blessed to be the mommy of two boys
2. Brian was hoping for a boy, and now he gets to have two sons
3. Robert will have a built in best friend

I took a half day off of work because the ultrasound was in the morning. Afterwards, Brian and I called our families to share the big news and then we headed to work. That afternoon, we came home to a fun surprise! Liz had stopped by the house and brought blue "It's a BOY" balloons and cupcakes with blue icing (both of which Robert loved!!). It was so sweet and made us even more excited about another little boy in our family.

It's a BOY!!! Check out Robert's little hand with the balloon already tied around his wrist! He must be excited about having a little BROTHER!! :)

I guess I'm starting to see what it will be like juggling two kids. Right now, we're focused on Robert's ear infections (we're on numbers 7 and 8 right now- boo!!) and his upcoming ear tube surgery. I'm also planning his birthday party- party theme, invitations, activities, cake, etc. I still can't believe he's going to be 2 years old! Wow!! At the same time, I'm also starting to plan for Baby Thomas. Each week Brian is taking a picture of my ever-growing baby bump, well now I should just say big tummy,  and we're discussing nursery themes and furniture ideas (sailboats, trains, rockets/ space, ocean, jungle, etc.). I know life with two baby boys is going to be quite busy, but I always say that I would rather be busy than bored.

That afternoon, we took the puppy dogs for a walk around the fountains in our neighborhood. Robert kept that blue balloon with him all evening. I'm telling you- he must be excited about having a baby brother!! :)

It's a ???

Tomorrow is the big ultrasound!! I am 19 weeks along and the doctor said that they'll be able to tell the gender of our baby at this point. I am so excited I can't stand it! When I was pregnant with Robert, this ultrasound was a big deal because it was the start of our family. We got to find out the gender of our oldest child. Tomorrow's ultrasound is a bigger deal for me though. Not only do we get to find out the gender our second child, but we'll also get to see if Robert will have a baby brother or baby sister. We've taught him both words so we're ready either way!!

I took this picture the morning I took the pregnancy test! We are so excited to have another baby!!

I've thought it was a boy from day one. Who knows? With Robert, I had no clue. This pregnancy has felt just like my first- wonderful! The only way I feel different from my usual self is that I'm hungry all the time and sometimes tired, but who doesn't feel hungry and tired at times? I love being pregnant and watching my tummy grow knowing that there's a little life in there who is half me and half Brian. It's so amazing, it's hard to believe sometimes!!

Baby Conway 2 at 10 weeks. Boy or girl???
I told my kiddos at school that we're finding out the gender tomorrow. All of the boys hope it's a boy and all of the girls hope it's a girl (go figure). After they tell me what gender they hope it is, most kids then ask what we're going to name the baby. Several of my students have asked me to name the baby after them! Haha- you gotta love kids!! As for baby names, here what Brian and I are thinking:

Boy Names
We knew we wanted to name our first son after Brian's dad. Robert Joseph is Brian's dad's first name and my dad's middle name. If we have another son, we'll name him Thomas Michael. Thomas is my dad's first name and Michael is Brian's dad's middle name.

Girl Names
We're not 100% sure about a girl's name yet. I really like the idea of naming a girl a name with C as the first letter because I think that would sound really cute with Conway. So far, we like Colleen, Catherine, and Claire. We're not sure on the first name yet. Her middle name would be Marie for sure though.

Well, that's it for now. I'll keep you posted about tomorrow!! I would love for Robert to have a little brother to rough and tumble with, but I would love to have a little girl just so I can have a girl. Boy or girl- it's going to be great!

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's already January 2012! 2011 has really flown by, but I am looking forward to a very exciting 2012!! We had a cozy New Years Eve at our house. Joan came in town to visit, and we had an evening of playing with Robert and watching the ball drop in New York on TV.

Robert loves Daddy's iPad and he showed Grandma his favorite game.

We went out to dinner to celebrate and came home to make "preggatinis." Kathy sent me the book "Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom to Be" which has all sorts of fun and non-alcoholic drink recipes. Thanks, Kathy!!

Cheers to a new year!

Robert finally decided that he was tired around 10, and the three of us stayed up to watch the ball drop on TV. I cannot even explain how excited I am for 2012 and meeting our new baby. Robert has been such a joy and I feel overhwhelmingly (is that even a word?) blessed to have another baby on the way.

Happy 2012!!

Welcome and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm new to the whole blogging thing, but I'm excited to share. With both of our families living in different cities, I thought this would be a nice way for us to keep everyone updated about our lives.

We just spent a wonderful Christmas in Houston with my family and I have to say that the holidays are even better with babies in our families. John, Kathy, and Jack also came to Houston and it was tons of fun watching Robert and Jack play with each other! At times, Robert was very helpful- offering the baby a bottle or toy- and sometimes Robert was nothing but jealous- yelling, "Mama, hold you!" (which is what he says when he wants me to pick him up) the second I put Jack in my arms. My guess is that watching him interact with his cousin was kinda like a sneak peak of what life will be like when we have Baby Conway 2.

Robert and Jack- Christmas 2011

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of all, and now it is truly the best time of the year! Having a child forces you to always be thinking about someone else instead of yourself, and what an amazing gift that is! All I wanted on Christmas morning was to see Robert's face light up. I think this Christmas was even more fun than last year since he can better express himself now (he is talking up a storm!!) and has specific interests. He gets excited over anything with Elmo on it. He wants to do anything he sees Brian or me do so for example he loves brushing his teeth and using tools (from watching Brian fix things around the house). On Christmas morning, he was very excited to see his very own electric toothbrush just like Daddy's and his very own "bob-bobber" (screwdriver in "Robert") just like Daddy's.

Robert in his "Choo-choo train" jammies opening gifts on Christmas morning.

We had such a great time visiting in Houston with my family, and now we're looking forward to spending New Year's in Allen with Brian's mom, Joan. Happy New Year!! 2012 is going to be a memorable year!!
